Art of Backpacking’s first webinar! The other day Dave said that he’s noticed that I’ve been starting a bunch of projects lately. I’m certainly keeping myself busy but I like it that way. I’ve had a great response to the Travel Writing webinar so I thought it’d be good idea to have a webinar on backpacking as well.

What’s a webinar?

In short, a webinar is a live conference web meeting. What makes it appealing is the visual and audio aspects of the meeting. The presenters can use their desktop to show examples and give lessons. The microphone makes it much easier to explain and have a conversation. There’s other features like webcams, whiteboards, Q&A, polls, and more. It’s an interactive system and I bought one of the most advanced ones on the internet. It’s easy and fun (I sound like a commercial here).

Backpacking Webinar Program

It’s completely free! This webinar is for those aspiring to go backpacking around the world. You can get tips from those who have experienced this lifestyle for months or years. I’ve chosen some really great people to be our presenters.

The webinar will be Q&A based. There will be a series of five questions that each presenter will be asked. In the last fifteen minutes or so, we’ll have audience participation, where you can ask your own questions.

We have a limit of 100 people so arrive early!

The Presenters

Chris Richardson (The Aussie Nomad)

Chris Richardson

After six years sitting in a cubicle, Chris left his job to travel around the world. He has been throughout SouthEast Asia and Europe and is currently in London, England. He has many articles on European travel and can be helpful for backpacking tips for traveling in Europe. Chris also lists out budget costs for multiple cities like Paris, Naples, Florence, and more.

He is known in the travel blogger community as being one of the most helpful techies for travel bloggers. Easy going guy and I’m really excited to have him on our webinar.

Kate McCulley (Adventurous Kate)

Kate started blogging at AdventurousKate.com in February, 2010. She planned for months: saving, researching and gathering as much information as possible for her six month trip all across South East Asia. She finally quit her job and left in October 2010. Just a few weeks ago she returned home but the adventure doesn’t stop there, she’s already planning more. Through her blog, she encourages women to take the plunge and travel solo.

I’ve been following Adventurous Kate’s blog since the beginning. She’s a great writer and her stories are captivating. Adventures actually follow Kate with situations like being shipwrecked in Indonesia and being in a German movie. I partied with Kate in Bangkok for New Years Eve and I can tell you for a fact that she definitely knows how to have a good time.

Jason Castellani (2 Backpackers)

Jason and Aracely were successful corporate professionals but their true passion is in traveling. They started 2Backpackers.com together and in August 2009, they went backpacking for a whole year all throughout Central America and South America. My favorites are their travel videos and photography. It’s also a well designed website and I find myself sucked in every time I visit.

I met Jason and Aracely in the summer of 2010 in New York City a few weeks after they came back from their trip. Two really great people that have a good sense of humour and fun to talk to. Unfortunately, Aracely will not be able to make it to the webinar as their settling in their new home. Jason can chime in for Aracely. He’ll be the go-to person for questions on couple traveling, what it’s like to be back home after backpacking long-term, or anything else regarding backpacking.

What question would you like answered?

Give us suggestions on what we could ask our presenters. If we choose your question, we’ll even mention your twitter or blog name. Comment below on what you’d like to ask.

Thanks Michael! It’s too bad I missed the first part of the webinar, but I’m glad I got to speak  with you’ll in the end! Awesome idea! And thank you all for the advice!
I’m still nervous about doing my Singapore > Goa road trip, but knowing that its the norm and that even you guys went through it once makes me feel like I’m on the right track. My Dad is a musician and I remember something he once told me. Even though he’s been performing for decades, he still gets a bit nervous before going up on stage. He compares the stitch in the stomach to the tightening to screws on a machine. He says it’s like a final check, making sure everything is right. And then his shows go well. He also said that the shows which didn’t make him nervous didn’t go as well. =)

        Cheers!

P.S.: Teresa mentioned a blog about a guy who travels everywhere only by land, I should have saved it immediately but I lost it. Do you remember the blog url? Teresa if your reading this, could you please tell me it again? :D
