I absolutely LOVE Freddo! When backpacking in Argentina 2 years ago, I was hooked on Freddo ice cream... on any dulce de leche ice cream flavors! Your post is bringing back good memories! Read some of our backpacking articles on Off-Track Backpacking (<a href="http://www.offtrackbackpacking.com" rel="nofollow">www.offtrackbackpacking.com</a>)

I would say Limon with Granizado, no matter which ice cream parlor you go...... there is no better one then another, dulce de leche is absolutely amazingly delicious and creamy there is no better way to describe it. The ice cream alone is a great excuse to make the trip down

Love Buenos Aires icecream! We never actually tried Un Alta Volta but Freddo is good, if a little more expensive that other places. We mostly just went to our local place Emede in Barrio Norte and got half a kilo with three different flavours. Simon sticks with chocolate but I have to mix it up - banana, coconut, passion fruit, tramontana, and of course dulce de leche with brownie. Mmmm...

The best heladeria we found was Jauja which had all natural flavours including unusual things like cardamom http://www.heladosjauja.com/ .

I can't believe you would even pose the question... Clearly it is Un Alta Volta the whole way! And has to be a Dulce de Leche/Chocolate combo. The extra strawberry was nice sometimes though... I don't even remember giving you a choice on that? Ice cream so delicious words don't even do it justice. Ugh, now I have ice cream cravings.

Ahh, I loved, loved, loved the ice cream in BA. We had an apartment in San Telmo for a month on our RTW, and we found an ice cream shop right around the corner from where we stayed. That was trouble as we seemed to go by there every other day. We always got two flavors in one container. Our go-to was Dulce de Leche/Dark Chocolate combo. If we were feeling particularly gluttonous, we would drizzle some dulce de leche we bought from the grocery store over the top of our bowl of ice cream. Heaven.
