I like to eat and I like to drink – luckily China has been more than generous in both accounts. In China though, it’s a bit different than what I’m use to. I don’t think Ive ever drank so much in a restaurant before China.

I’ve mentioned it several times here of my popularity status in China and so has Stephanie but this last weekend has topped it all off. Since the warm weather is finally here, Spring sports had a big kick off at the University I teach at in Xi’an, China. I was asked to attend the Spring sports ceremony. For the days that followed, there were various sporting events including running, basketball, and even dancing. It’s much like a field day back at home when there’s no classes and everyone attends the sporting events.
I’ve traveled extensively throughout China mostly by train. When I first came to China, I knew very little Chinese and I still got to everywhere I needed to go. It’s by far one of the best methods of transportation in China and can be a really interesting experience, too. While below I may explain some of [...]
Visited in July, 2009. I took a one day pass to explore Angkor. This enormous site is just not possible to do in a single day. If you get to go here, make sure to bring an extra water bottle. It gets incredibly hot and all the walking around from temple to temple gets tiring real fast. [...]
Visited in May 2009. It was one of my first attractions when I started traveling the world. It was about a five hour hike from Jinshanling to Simatai. There were hardly any tourist and the wall was mostly unrestored. Near Simatai, I took a zipline from the top of the wall down across the river and to the lower section of the mountain. It then led to a short boat trip across again toward the exit. I booked the trip at the hostel for 200RMB which included the pick-up and drop off, water bottle, and one full meal.
Xi’an, China is most obviously known for the Terracotta Warriors and for its long history. In food however, the dumpling banquet is one of Xi’an’s most popular dishes that dates back to 25-220 AD. Dumplings are taken to the next level in Xi’an. Carefully mastered, there are dozens of different shapes, colors, tastes, and each cooked in different styles. It’s an art in itself.
This is one of my favorite islands in Thailand. Not many tourist on the island and has a relaxed kind of vibe to it. The sunset you see below looked like that every single night that we were there. The perfect place for a time out.
I can extend this list to the thousands but I’ll do your internet browser a favor and not make it that long. There is no order and it was written randomly as more came to mind.
Listed are known legitimate organizations helping the countries hurt by the earthquake and tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011.
I’m not going to judge you for not including China but you sure as hell better think of a better excuse because the ones listed above are lame. While I understand that traveling in China may not be for everyone (just like traveling to any other nation may not be), the misunderstandings of a destination can be misleading and wrong. You are limiting yourself from what the destination really has to offer.
