What happens when you date another travel blogger? You start a project together. Since the day Stephanie and I met, we talked about making a documentary film that related to travel. We planned it for months with ideas going in and out. It wasn’t until we traveled together through SouthEast Asia that we realized just how dependent we were to technology. It was a difficult balance to sometimes disconnect but then again we wouldn’t even have been there if it wasn’t for technology. We also realized many of the local businesses rely on internet reviews to stay in business. We found what we wanted to film.
The internet and social media have changed so much about the way we live, work and socialize in the 21st century, particularly the way we travel. Information for any destination in the world is easy to find. Technology hasn’t just made travel easier, it’s made the world a smaller place for people to connect.
Starting this fall, we will begin filming in South America traveling through many countries interviewing locals, travelers, and digital nomads along the way. We have a series of articles already posted on Everywhere Connection about the project and how we will achieve this.
We Need Your Help
We will be using our own funds to pay for our everyday travel expenses like room and board. We’re both experts at traveling extremely cheaply- staying in hostels, eating street food etc. What we need help paying for the costs of our operation: the costs of flights and technical equipment. To make a documentary you need a lot of things: a solid camera, a Mac book Pro, editing software etc. We’ve started an IndieGoGo crowd-sourcing campaign to raise funding for this project. We set a challenge for ourselves to raise more than $6,000 in 62 days (by August 1st). Instead of asking for money (which feels weird to ask for), I’m asking for help on getting the word out.

If you do contribute money, we have some fun perks in store for you. Postcards, gifts, DVDs, t-shirts, and more. See our IndieGoGo page for a list of all the perks.
We feel crowd-sourcing really fits in with the message we are conveying in our film. The idea that technology has changed the ways we travel and work in a community. Everyone who contributes even $10 will be an essential part of this project.
