Derek Turner from the United States took on a journey to six continents and over thirty countries to fulfill his dream. He’s been on the road so far for over three years. In the first six months of his journey, he took it by sea by sailing around the world. He started a website called The World By Sea to raise money – 100% of which would go to humanitarian needs encountered during his travels.
In this video, he talks about how his view of the world has changed since he started to travel. He set out to change the world but in reality the world changed him.
There are similarities in all of us as humans. Derek captures beautiful footage as he describes that everyone laughs, cries, and loves. In this respect, I find this video similar to the concept of Playing For Change as they say “No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race“.
Every person has a story to tell, many will inspire the rest of us to live better lives: to dream, to serve, to accomplish. My goal as a documentary maker is to find those people and their stories, and share them with the rest of the world. – Derek Turner
