In the smallest plane I’ve ever flown in, I was few thousand of feet high overlooking Fiji and its many tiny islands. We were flying from Nadi to Savusavu. The plane fits only about 10 people and it was difficult to talk to anyone else around me because the plane itself was so loud. I sat literally the seat right behind the pilot. They made it seem so easy. A few buttons here and there and we were off. The controls were all gibberish to me but it was cool to see the numbers go up and down as the plane moved.
The view from above was mesmerizing. I didn’t want to take my eyes off the window for the hour long flight. I wasn’t scared or nervous at all. In fact, I felt safer than in a big plane. I don’t know statistically which is safer but it just felt better.
Island Hoppers, the company that flew us, also offers helicopter rides around Fiji. I had secretly hoped we would be flying in one of those but the plane ride was great too.
You can’t get a better view than this…
