I've said the same exact thing. I'd love to go back and motorbike the entire country from top to bottom. I only did a small portion of the south and would go back to do it all this time.

I have just returned (due to an accident!!) from a 1 month trip through Laos, i only went from Vientienne up (it was a complete spur of the moment thing, i was just meant to be in Laos for a visa run from Thailand!!!) I hired an off road 250 Honda Baja, in my 10 yrs of travelling, it was one of the best experiences of my life, the scenery and the people are simply amazing. I was going to an elephant sanctuary in Luang Probang when i got not 1 but 2 nails in my back tyre, fotunately i was only going about 15 km/h,unfortunately only on THAT day i wore sandals, board shorts, no shirt and a helmet, so i got pretty scratched up! But you know what, even as i type this, my mind is thinking about a return trip(possibly with my brother) and i would like to go right to the top and down to the bottom of Laos... I reccomend it to anyone(hiring a motorbike to tour the country) but its more fun with a friend, luckily the guy in Vientienne (Jules - of Jules Classic Bike Rental) lent me a helmet with a tiny HD film camera mounted on it, so i have most of my trip on my hard drive, yet to be edited, i also took loads of photos... one of the best trips of my life!! If you can - do it!!
