Now that you’re all set to go on a round-the-world trip, your major concern must be packing for this trip. Backpacking for his tour will be different from a conventional trip. You have to pack all essential items in a backpack that will accompany you throughout your journey. Since your trip is likely to stretch to months or even more than a year, make sure you pack all essentials together so as to avoid any hassle on the way.
Plan Your Trip:
Before you start packing for the trip, make sure you have a durable backpack that’s spacious and can support weight. Get a backpack of the right size that fits your torso. The easier it is to carry your backpack, the lesser back pain you will feel. List down the countries and cities you look forward to visiting and then get some information on weather and climate. It will help you choose your belongings you should take on the trip.
Pack Your Clothes:
Choose clothes wisely that you intend to take on the trip. You can’t take everything with you on a backpacking tour. Therefore, keep a few clothes with you for different weathers. You can purchase new items as and when needed. Don’t fill your bag with clothes. Take a few t-shirts, socks, shorts or pants and jackets to withstand weather in different parts of the world.
It is recommended to keep your clothes at the bottom of your backpack. Keeping lightweight items at the bottom of the backpack will save you from muscular spasms.
Keep Electronic Items:
You can’t go on a round-the-world trip without your electronic equipment. Keep your mobile phone, camera and other gadgets in the middle of the backpack. Make sure that you pack extra batteries and accessories. Keep small sized batteries and other accessories in sealed plastic bags. It will ensure that you don’t have to look through the pile of items in backpack just to find that camera battery.
Take Care of Personal Hygiene:
Choose a backpack with multiple compartments so as to keep different types of items separately. Keep essential first-aid items in a small sized pack. Take painkillers and band-aids to deal with allergic reactions and injuries. Keep your toothbrush, tooth paste, toilet paper and other items in a separate section of your backpack.
Take Water Bottles:
Don’t forget water bottles. During the backpacking trip, you will visit many different locations. You don’t want to spend hours looking for a water source. Also, keep a portable water purification system to get clean water. Keep dry food items and snacks that you can consume anytime and anywhere.
You can stay in hostels during your round-the-world trip. However, make sure you keep a sleeping bag with you so that you don’t have to go look for a room when you are on a hiking adventure. The sleeping bag will keep you safe from insects and bugs. If you intend to enjoy some adventurous activities too, keep a tent that you can use on a camping experience.
