Backpacking is an exciting way of discovering the lesser known parts of the world. You can count yourself a backpacker if you also roam around from one place to another just with a backpack. Travelers aren’t the same as tourists. They tend to live in cheap hotels, travel the unknown paths and live in the moment. They don’t plan their expeditions and instead, go with the flow.
You can classify backpackers into certain categories on the basis of their behavior and lifestyle. If you have ever been on a backpacking tour, you might have come across the following types of travelers.
The Partyoholics:
They are the backpackers who spend their evenings and nights in drinking and partying. They have all the information about bars and nightclubs in the area. They usually sleep through the mornings and wake up late. They are outgoing extroverts who believe in living their life to the fullest and aspire to visit all the cities in the world known as the famous partying hotspots such as Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Las Vegas, Manchester and Amsterdam.
The Depressed One:
They are the travelers who are capable of ruining your trip. They are the depressed souls who keep reminiscing about the past. They have been into travelling for long, but keep on following the same routes. They will share stories from their early trips and compare the current and older condition of the places.
You may also find some spoilsports who will find something negative in everything. Either the hostel is too dirty to live in or they can’t find anything they want to eat.
The Flashpacker:
They are young travelers, usually in their mid or late 20s. They have collected enough money to travel the world. They try to live on a budget, but often fail to do so. They are tech geeks and are equipped with modern electronic gadgets such as smartphones, digital cameras and laptops. They can’t stay in a hostel if there is no internet connection.
A majority of them are bloggers who want to document every moment. They spend most of the time in finding the right angles to capture the best shot of the place. If they accompany you on a trip, you don’t need to worry about pictures.
The Old Corporate Worker:
They are the travelers who have recently left their job after years of service and aim to live their dreams. They have jovial nature and tend to mingle with young travelers. They like to party hard and spend their day roaming around. You may get awkward around them due to their age, but befriend them and you will have the time of your life.
The Spirituals:
They can talk all day about life and different religions. They have thorough information about different cultures and behaviors of people living there. Their major aim is to find themselves and connect with nature. They are fed up of today’s materialistic world and tend to travel through mountains or forests, most of the times.
